This assessment tool is an example used for ASL 1 immersion students. This is helpful for student to recognize the basic vocabulary and develop awareness of Deaf culture rules. Students identify the difference between wh-question and yes/no question using appropriate non-manual signals. Also, students practice grammar and narrative to contrast objects based on differences including color, size, and number of items.

The assessment tool helps a professor to measure students' level of comprehension in authentic and real world situations with ASL and Deaf culture. This rubric evaluates students' ASL skills to use narrative to compare concepts and objects.
